My Journey

Hey! I'm xfchiba (or Oak) and I create electroacoustic music with a strong emphasis on gestural/expressive sound design. My work leans into the avant-garde, where I explore storytelling through the deconstruction and reconstruction of sonic ambiguity. My creative approach starts with sketching small musical gestures inspired by my surroundings and shaped by my experiences. I'm drawn to strings and woodwinds, and I blend them with recorded foley, like the chirping of birds and the sound of footsteps and leaves, or the sound of a cello string slowly being pulled toward its breaking point, to create music that feels personal and expressive.

released june 1 2026. production with rissan (1:34 - 1:49) e-veryday and novel are collectives leading the recent wave of microcomposition across electronic music. for this collaboration, ten artists from each collective were paired together and, per tradition, asked to create a 15-second piece in whatever style felt most natural to their practice.
